CONYERS — Rockdale County employees, parents, middle and high school students and other community members have a chance to meet with Rockdale County Public Schools Superintendent Samuel King next week.

From 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, King will hold his biannual Community Forum at the Rockdale Career Academy, which is located at 1064 Culpepper Drive, off Parker Road, in Conyers.

“As superintendent, I believe that communication with all stakeholders is a key component to a successful school system,” he said. “This forum is one avenue of communication that gives me the opportunity to share information as well as engage in meaningful dialogue with parents, middle and high school students and the community.”

The program will start with a state of the system address by King, and then the group will learn about some of the school’s 21st century technology found in classrooms.

“This program will be slightly different (from past forums) in that we will be sharing a learning experience that is reflective of the way students learn with today’s technology,” King said.

Afterward, the group will split up into roundtable discussion groups to talk about various topics before ending the event with a question-and-answer session with King and his cabinet members.

“The panel discussion with me and cabinet members will hopefully provide the necessary feedback to leave the group with a more in-depth knowledge of the topics discussed and how they impact education in our community,” King said.

So I can attend the Supt meeting OR the PTA meeting at my child's middle school OR the art night at my other child's elementary school OR the band boosters mtg at my other child's high school since they've all been planned on March 9th. Doesn't anyone in this school system communicate with each other to keep from all these events happening on the same night?! What's a parent to do?

Yeah, good luck with that! When Mr. King first became Superintendent and had a meeting at the school and some of us parents discussed our concerns. I didn't see a change at all. I'm glad my children are out of public school now.
