Clarence H. (Jack) Hawkins, 85, of Covington, died Monday, April 4, 2005, at Grady Hospital. He was the son of the late Jesse Clarence and Mamie Stapp Hawkins and the widower of Martha Delingham. Born in Morgan County, Mr. Hawkins had lived in Newton County most of his life. He retired from Ginn Motor Company with over 46 and 1/2 years of service and was of the Methodist faith. Mr. Hawkins was preceded in death by his son, Clarence D. (Pete) Hawkins. Surviving Mr. Hawkins are his brothers, Robert Harold Hawkins, Charlie M. Hawkins, Alvin D. Hawkins, all of Covington, Johnny C. Hawkins of Carrollton; grandchildren, Terry Douglas Hawkins and Dee Ann H. Minnigerode. Funeral services for Mr. Hawkins will be held Thursday, April 7, 2005, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, with Rev. Harold Henderson, officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. Caldwell & Cowan, Covington, GA.
