Lemuel Benjamin (L.B.) Still Jr., 91, and a life long resident of Conyers, Ga., passed away Nov. 28, 2005. He was born Jan. 6, 1914, graduated from Conyers High School and the University of Georgia with honors in 1934. In 1938, he married Martha Anne Drew of Meriweather County. Mr. Still was stationed in North Africa, Southern France and Germany with the 582nd Ambulance Company during World War II. He returned to Conyers in 1945; and, in 1946, he and his brother R.H. Still, along with a good friend J.T. Hicks founded what is today Still Lumber Company. Mr. Still was active in numerous civic organizations in Rockdale County through the years serving as chairman of the Hospital Authority in the '70s. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Conyers for 82 years and a Life Deacon. He is survived by his wife, Martha Anne Drew Still, Children, Dr. and Mrs. (Nancy) Thomas B. Cannon of Winston-Salem, NC, and Jane Hill of Conyers; grandchildren, Rachel and Blair Barton-Percival of Greensboro, N.C., Sara and Drew Cannon of Winston - Salem, NC, Clair and Tim Lipman of Avon, Col., Andrea and Jason Hill, Jill and Lem Hill and Jessica and Rob Nix, all of Conyers; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Conyers. Interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends today, Nov. 29, 2005, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Harry White Chapel.
