Mr. Marvin "MJ" Burke, Jr., age 67, of Oxford, died Monday, July 31, 2006. He was born in Jenkins, GA (Millen) on August 19, 1938 to the late Marvin Burke, Sr. and Florrie Wilson Burke. Mr Burke was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Covington where he taught Sunday School and occasionally led the music. He was a member of the Oxford Lions Club for 24 years and a member of the Stone Mountain Baptist Association's Disaster Relief Feeding Unit since 1995. Mr. Burke is survived by his wife, Patsy J. Burke of Oxford, GA; sons: Marvin Jackson Burke of Pembrooke Pines, FL and David Mark Burke of Hollywood, FL; sister and brother-in-law: Sue B. and Lamon Gillis of Millen, GA; niece: Pam Watson; nephew: Freddy Gillis and 3 great nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mr. Burke is today at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with the Rev. Alan Thompson officiating. Interment will be Thursday, August 3, 2006 with a graveside service at 11:00 am at Millen City Cemetery in Millen, GA. Wheeler Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements. 770-786-7111.
