Helen Ruth Deason, age 87, of Conyers, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006. She was born in Daviess County, KY, to the late Zachary and Ida Lehigh Henning. She was the wife of the late Harry R. Deason. Funeral services will be held at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home, Rockdale Chapel, on Highway 138 in Conyers, on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, at 2 p.m., with Father John Kieran officiating. Interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens. As a military wife, Mrs. Deason traveled to many places, including Japan, Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Her work experience included The American Red Cross and The Remington Arms Munitions Plant. She also volunteered at the V.A. Hospital in Atlanta. She spent her later years enjoying time with close friends playing canasta. Mrs. Deason is survived by: daughters, Vicki Fountain (Glenn) of Jekyll Island, GA, Judy Vining (Charles) of Hopkins, SC, Debbie Smith (Cary) of Conyers, GA, and Margaret "Peggy" Casey of Atlanta, GA; seven grandchildren, Cheryl (Alan) Goldin of Macon, GA, Michael Fountain of Ball Ground, GA, Dana Fountain of Greenville, SC, Ken Vining (Kristin) of Charlotte, NC, Justin Smith of Covington, GA, Travis Smith of Conyers, GA, and Beau Casey of Atlanta, GA; and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish, may make a memorial contribution to Portsbridge Hospice, Conyers Unit, 1374 Manchester Drive, Conyers, GA 30013. Horis A.
