Charles Wesley Young

Mr. Charles Wesley Young, born February 4, 1933, in Rockdale County, passed away at the age of 73 on July 10, 2006. He was the son of the late John and Nettie Ivy Young of Milstead, GA and the husband of Luci Marion Young. He was preceded in death by siblings J.C. Young Jr., Mozelle Robinson. Josephine Chandler, Theo (Plug) Young, Lewis Young and Grady Young. Surviving children are Joni Y. Wesley-Zagwyn and husband, Richard C. Zagwyn, Holli Newman and husband, Jewel Newman, Sean Young and wife, Kathy Young and Ronnie Jurges and wife Tracy Jurges. Grandchildren are Kip Abbott and wife, Courtney Abbott, Jonah Wesley, JoHannah Jurges and Faith Salinas. Surviving siblings are Clyde (Bud) and Barbara Jean Young, Sara Y. Stegins, Helen and Lawrence Rooks and Norma and Wayne Hammond, all of Conyers, GA. Charles and Luci are members at The Church at Covington, pastored by David Payne. Charles went on numerous mission trips with his church. he passed away peacefully and suddenly on July 10 during a church trip. Charles was an avid sports fan. He loved coaching and umpiring baseball and basketball in Rockdale County almost as much as watching his grandson play baseball. He loved his family, friend and church family. He owned C.Y. Surplus on Green Street in Conyers. he loved meeting new people (he never met a stranger) and socializing with friends. he retired from Ace Hardware Distribution Center on Hwy 138 after 20 years of service. He also served 2 years in the U.S. Army from 1953 until 1955. Charles was also a member of the American Legion. The celebration of life service will be held Sunday, July 16, 2006 at 3:00 PM at The Church at Covington, 11975 Hwy. 142 North (at Airport Road) in Oxford, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations to TCAC building fund would be greatly appreciated. Casual attire is appropriate.
