Mr. Luther Hamilton "L.H." Cook, age 73, of Starrsville, GA died on Saturday, May 20, 2006. He was a member of Starrsville United Methodist Church where he served as treasurer for over 20 years and was the present trustee. He graduated from Covington High School and North Georgia Collage, after which he entered the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant. Mr. Cook retired from GMAC after 38 years of Service. he served many civic organizations. He was a past president of the Newton County Kiwanis Club and was a member of The North Georgia Friends for Life Club. Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his first wife: Diane H. Cook, parents: Luther H. Cook and Frances Corley Cook; brother: Ronald H. Cook. He is survived by wife: Freida Harden Cook; children: Mr. & Mrs. Luther H. Cook, III of Gainesville, GA, Michael R. Cook of Starsville, GA; step-children: Mr. & Mrs. Tim Rockwell of Starrsville, GA, Mr. & Mrs. Ben Harden of Monroe, GA, Mr. & Mrs. Wiley Harden of Oxford, GA; grandchildren: Lindsey Cook and Logan Cook; step-grandchildren: Matthew G. Harden, K. Spence Harden, Jordan Harden, Mark Benjamin Rockwell and April Ferra; nephew: Ronald H. Cook, Jr. The family received friends at the funeral home Monday, May 22, 2006. The funeral for Mr. Cook will be held at Starrsville United Methodist Church on Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at 2:00 PM. He will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Rev. Curtis Shurtz will officiate. Interment will follow in the Starr Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Starrsville United Methodist Church Building Fund. J.C.
