Mr. W S (Bill) Herring, age 85, of Covington, GA, died Saturday, September 02, 2006. He was the son of the late Edward Patrick and Julia Ann Hulsey Herring. Mr. Herring was preceded in death by wife, Ruby Webb Herring and grandson, T.J. Haley. Mr. Herring was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served from 1940-1947. He was honorably discharged because of wounds received during service to his country in World War II. He served in Northern France and Germany and was awarded the Silver Star, Purple Heart, and European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with Bronze Stars. He was a member of Gaither's United Methodist Church, Ambassador's Sunday School Class, a member of Howell Savage DAV Chapter 55, and Conyers VFW Post 5290. Surviving Mr. Herring are his daughters, Sharon Elaine Herring, Barnesville, GA; Cindy Jo Herring, Ellijay, GA; Robin Herring, Phoenix, AR; Emily Holder, McDonough, GA; and Evelyn Marshall, Covington, GA; sons, William Stephen Herring, Covington, GA; Gary Herman Herring, Ellijay, GA; David Thomas Herring, Ellijay, GA; Tommy Hailey, Covington, GA; Wayne Hailey, Covington, GA; and Tim Hailey, Conyers, GA; grandchildren, John Marshall, Ron Holder, and Christy Young; great-grandchildren, Dillan Marshall, Andrew Young, Christian Young, Jonathan Marshall, Jayden Young, Ryan Holder, and a number of other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Herring will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan. Rev. Danny Standard and Rev.
