Mrs. Horis A. (Sara) Ward Sr. of Snellville passed away September 30, 2007. She is survived by daughter and son in law, Dr. James & Diane Gatewood, Columbus, MS; sons and daughter in laws, Alec & Patti Ward, Stone Mountain, Richard & Daphene Ward, Braselton; brother, Mark DeBardelaben, Franklin, NC; grandchildren, H. A. Ward III, Jackson, David Gatewood, Columbus, MS, Leigh Anne Carmichael, Atlanta, Scot Ward, McDonough, Neal Ward, Covington, Dr. Jeremy Ward, Braselton, Kurt Ward, Atlanta, Laree Black, Conyers; 13 great-grandchildren. Sara was born in Atlanta, attended Girls High and graduated from Stockbridge High School and the Beauty College in Atlanta. She and Horis founded Horis A. Ward, Inc. Funeral Homes and Fairview Memorial Gardens. Sara was a dedicated member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church and was a substitute teacher in the Atlanta Public Schools. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who worked hard, loved playing a good game of hearts or bridge, traveling the world with her family, and serving the Lord through her church. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Christian Church; interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Stockbridge, GA. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Scot Ward's Harry White Chapel and Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church. Contributions may be made to the Missions Fund at Mt.
