George Thomas Richards, Sr., of Oxford, died November 27, 2008, at the age of 88. Son of the late Ernest and Emma Richards, he was a member of the Connecticut Guard and served in the U. S. Army during World War II. Mr. Richards was one of the charter members of St. Pius X Catholic Church and was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. His hobbies included gardening and fishing. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. Mr. Richards was preceded in death by his first wife, Bertha Richards. Survivors include his wife, Libby Richards of Oxford; daughter, Anna Richards of Conyers; son, George Thomas Richards, Jr. of Panama City Beach, FL; grandchildren, Greg Richards of Snellville, Eric Richards of Jasper; four great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Henry of Dania, FL. A Memorial service for Mr. Richards will be held Wednesday, December 3, 11:00 AM, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, with Father John Kieran officiating.
