Mr. John T. Bowden age 77 of Conyers, Georgia died Saturday, February 21, 2009. He was born on December 8, 1931 in Warren, Ohio to the late James J. and Florence Jackson Bowden. He graduated from Kent State University where he served as president of the senior class and president of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy as an aviator on the Ticonderoga aircraft carrier. He moved to Georgia 33 years ago from Cleveland, Ohio. He was a longtime member of the Conyers Rotary Club serving as program chairman for several years. Mr. Bowden owned and operated his own company, John T. Bowden and Associates. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Bowden was preceded in death by his wife Lee Houston Bowden, his parents, and a brother: James J. Bowden, Jr. He is survived by his daughter: Laura Bowden McNulty of Conyers, GA; son and daughter-in-law: Charles and Michele Bowden of Valdosta, GA; grandchildren: Claire Houston McNulty, Amanda Catherine Bowden, Rebecca Rachel Bowden; brothers: Ted W. Bowden of Georgetown, SC, Michael Bowden of Shaker Heights, OH; sisters: Marianne West of Jupiter, FL, Patricia Capri Adkins of Canton, OH, Ruth Merriman of Rocky River, OH; and numerous other family and friends. The memorial service for Mr. Bowden will be 3:00PM, Sunday, March 1, 2009 at Smyrna Presbyterian Church, 2920 Highway 212, Conyers, GA 30094. The Rev. Jack Westlund will be officiating the service.
