These graduates-to-be are all smiles Friday evening as they await the beginning of graduation ceremonies for Rockdale County High School. Seniors at all six of the high schools in Rockdale and Newton counties are celebrating graduation this weekend. Rockdale High School held its graduation ceremonies Friday evening at Church in The Now, where 253 seniors received diplomas and 20 received certificates of completion. Shown above, left to right, are Shakaira Pierson, Janee Johnson, Kristen Smiley and Malene Edwards. Heritage High School also held its ceremonies Friday evening. Salem High School seniors will graduate at 9 a.m. today. Newton County 12th-graders will cross the stage beginning with Eastside High School at 10 a.m. at Church in The Now, followed by Alcovy High School at 1 p.m at the school's gymnasium. Newton High School seniors will receive their diplomas at 4 p.m., also at Church in The Now. For complete graduation coverage, see the Sunday Citizen.
