Have you ever wondered just how many times God has protected you from something? Or even from someone?
God's hedge of protection over us is truly beyond our comprehension.
When I think about His protection I think of it in a physical sense, such as the times when I've been running late from leaving the house and I've driven upon a car wreck that just had happened. I can't tell you how many times that's happened to me.
And every time that has happened I am reminded that God isn't done with my plan and purpose for being on this Earth yet.
Or what about the protection over all of those people from the Sept. 11 attacks? I can remember hearing countless reports of people saying they had car trouble or their child was sick and it delayed them from reporting to work on time on that dreadful day.
Have you ever reflected on your life to see how God protected you from even certain people and certain situations that could have drastically changed your life forever?
I hope so. I hope you realize that if it wasn't for His love for us and His desire to see His kids through this journey on earth, that we all could be in a different place right now.
My grandparents prayed for my protection all of the time. They prayed for one another that God's hedge of protection would protect them whenever they would leave the comforts our home.
I covet my husband Kevin in my prayers every morning when he leaves. I pray for his protection at work, traveling, anywhere.
I also pray for spiritual protection, or what we may call spiritual warfare. The devil is using all kinds of things and people to take our eyes of God right now.
This week, as I was thinking about God's protection in my life, I was wondering if, when we get to heaven, He will reveal all of those times that He protected us.
I know there were times when it was laid on my heart to pray for certain people and I didn't know why. And I would find out later that maybe it was because they were fighting their own spiritual war or God was bringing them through a tragedy.
Nonetheless, I encourage you to start praying for God's hand of protection of your life, your children, your family and friends, and especially this country.
This country needs the Lord. Point blank.
I'll leave you with a little bit of the prayer that I heard my grandma pray over my papa for so many years.
"Lord, please put your hedge of protection around Martin. Put your angels all about him and his car and go before him Lord. Guide his steps and his path. And Lord bless him, keep him safe and may your face shine upon him. Amen."
