CONYERS -- Police are looking for three men who reportedly stabbed and robbed a man as he was walking home.
According to incident reports, the 20-year-old victim was walking from Martinez Plaza shopping center near Pine Log Road to his Briar Creek apartment, near the rear of the complex, about 10 p.m. Friday. Through an interpreter, the victim said three black men approached him near the plaza's Dumpster adjacent to the complex entrance and one of the assailants demanded money. The suspects took the victim's wallet from his pocket. The wallet had the victim's Mexican ID card and an undisclosed amount of money inside.
Another suspect reportedly tried to stab the victim in the stomach, but the victim pushed the thrust down. The victim was cut on the right thigh instead, according to the incident report. The victim said he then ran to his apartment.
The victim told Conyers Police that the suspects were dressed all in black. Two of the men were "thin-framed," and one suspect was "heavy set," according to the incident report. The victim allegedly had never seen his assailants before.
The victim was treated at the Rockdale Medical Center emergency department. The cut was superficial, according to ER staff, and would only need stitches.
The incident is being classified as an armed robbery.
