Mrs. Gloria J. Almand, age 73 of Conyers, a retired school teacher, died July 20, 2010. She is survived by husband of 54 years, Bill Almand, Conyers; son, Bill Almand and Susan Groh, Cary, NC; daughter, Michelle and Gary Bezilla, Hilton Head, SC; grandchildren, Will Almand, Anne Almand, Gabrielle Bezilla, Ashley Bezilla; sister, Vicki J. Loyd, Abbeville, SC. Mrs. Almand taught at J.P. Carr Middle School, Rockdale County High School and retired from the Newton County School System. She graduated from N. Georgia College and attended UGA and University of Maryland. Mrs. Almand was a member of Philadephia United Methodist Church and was a Certified Life Master Bridge Player. She was a loving woman filling roles as both father and mother while her husband served in Vietnam. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 23, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Scot Ward's Harry White Chapel with Rev. David Collins and Rev. Charles Ray officiating; interment will follow at Philadelphia United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10 a.m. prior to service.
