Freshman Caree Atkins gets some advice from senior Emerson Colvin during Salem High School's band camp this week. The Salem Pride of the Tribe marching band will perform a show titled "The Great Detective," including the themes from Dragnet, Inspector Gadget, Harlem Nocturne and "The Chase," according to Salem Director of Bands Ben Tingle. Camp started July 15 and finishes today. "The students have shown amazing resilience and character working hard in the 90-degree plus heat," Tingle said. He said frequent water breaks and water balloon fights have keep the students cool.
