Mr. and Mrs. William Gray Stowers of Conyers announce the engagement of their daughter, Shannon Wells Stowers, to Opie Dean Bowen of Lake Park, Ga., son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Dean Bowen of Lake Park.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Chaplin Howard E. Waters and the late Lilla Waters of Marietta and the late Mr. and Mrs. Guy M. Stowers of Conyers. She is a 2003 graduate of Salem High School and a 2008 graduate of Valdosta State University, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in exercise physiology. She is currently employed with Government Employees Insurance Company as a sales representative.
The future groom is the grandson of Mrs. Betty S. Bowen and the late James E. Bowen of Lee, Fla., and Edna M. Thompson and the late C.W. Thompson of McAlphin, Fla. He is a 2002 graduate of Echols County High School and a 2007 graduate of Valdosta State University, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in chemistry and a minor in political science. He is a 2010 graduate of Walter F. George School of Law of Mercer University, where he earned a juris doctorate. He is currently employed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office as a registered patent agent. He plans to pursue a career as a patent attorney.
The couple plans to wed Aug. 21 at The Beachview Club on Jekyll Island.
