Jack L. Gilliam of Covington, GA died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Newton Medical Center. He was born on September 4, 1939 in Miami, FL to Jack Flenory and Lois Minshew Gilliam. Served our country in the US Navy and retired after 20 years of service and spent 2 years in Vietnam. He loved to fish and hunt, enjoyed restoring cars, and spending time with his family. Mr. Gilliam is survived by wife Patsy L. Kersey Gilliam, of Covington, GA, mother Lois Smith of Grand Ridge, FL, son Jack L. Gilliam, Jr. of Conyers, GA, son Allan C. Gilliam of Smithville, MO, daughter Traci L. Barlow, Covington, GA; brother George Eugene Gilliam of Sycamore, FL, sister Wanda Lee Arnold of Grand Ridge, FL, brother Robert Wilson Gilliam Sr. of Havana, FL; grandchildren Kasey L. Gilliam, Jack L. Gilliam III., George L. Gilliam, Krystal S. Gilliam, James David Young, Stephen J. Young, Aimee L. Clayton; great grandchildren Marsaan Clayton, Amaiah Clayton, Brantley Gilliam, Peyton Perkins; mother-in-law Dorothy H. Kersey of Covington, GA. He is preceded in death by father Jack Flenory Gilliam, son David L. Gilliam. Services will be held at 3:30 PM on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with Rev. Doyle West officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, March 7, 2010 from 1:30-3:30PM. Guest may sign the online register book at www.wheelerfuneralhome.com.
