Fifth grade students in John Oxford's science class at Peachtree Academy in Conyers recently studied human body systems including the respiratory system, circulatory system, digestive system and renal system. The students decorated T-shirts as a way to learn about the body's organs and remember where they are located. Fifth grade students participated in a science activity led by John Oxford at Peachtree Academy Private School to learn about the human body.
The lesson was the culminating activity for a unit in which fifth grade students studied human body systems including the respiratory system, circulatory system, digestive system and the renal system.
According to Peachtree Academy Headmaster Wendy Hughes, the class activity was "more enjoyable and informative for the class than memorizing facts about systems in the body, their organs, and the function of those organs. The students had great fun decorating their t-shirts and learning about their anatomy. One student said that she did great on her test because she could think about her shirt and know where her organs were located!"
