Heritage's Jordan Martin will be in select company next month.
The rising senior infielder will be one of 100 underclassmen to showcase his skills at the Georgia Dugout Club's Top 100 Underclassmen Showcase on July 1.
Martin, who hit .319, had 11 RBIs and led the 2011 Patriots with 16 walks and 18 runs scored, was selected from the 12 showcase events in the month of June by the Georgia Underclassmen Scout Committee. More than 80 college coaches and pro scouts will be in attendance for the event.
Loganville coach Jeff Segars coordinates the event for the Dugout Club.
"There are a lot of opportunities here. Out of the 100 invited to Atlanta, we usually see as many as 20 get recruited by Division I schools or be considered as draft-type players," Segars said. "The other 80 generally wind up with Division II, junior college or NAIA programs. We get a lot of big-time guys, but most of the kids wind up at smaller schools, but that presents an opportunity to move up."
