American Legion Post 77 holds Veterans Day program

CONYERS -- The American Legion Post 77 of Conyers will honor veterans for their service during its annual Veterans Day program and luncheon on Friday.

The program will begin at 11 a.m. at the American Legion, located at 674 Legion Road in Conyers. A complimentary light lunch will be served afterwards.

Local attorney Robert Mumford is the guest speaker for the program and Susan Landress will sing the national anthem and "God Bless America." The Legion's Honor Guard will participate and fire a 21-gun salute. The playing of Taps will close the program.

Also, the Legion's Last Man Standing Club will meet afterward.

In other news, the Legion is accepting registration for its first annual Thanksgiving dinner for senior veterans to be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20. The Legion encourages those interested to sign up at the Legion so they will have an accurate head count in preparing for the event, according to Zeste Debro, post commander.

The Legion is also organizing a group to attend the Atlanta Falcons game against the New Orleans Saints on Nov. 13 to be honored during the team's Veterans Day observance.
