This domestic short hair kitten appears to have the beginnings of a beard. He's as cute as can be and is the color of butterscotch. He's up-to-date on all shots and came in to the shelter as a stray, alog with three siblings. He can be rescued and adopted at Rockdale County Animal Care and Control Shelter at 1506 Rockbridge Road in Conyers. At the Rockdale shelter adoption fees for dogs are $30 and $20 for cats. However, right now they are offering two kittens for $32 if you live in Rockdale County. Spaying or neutering is required for adoption. The shelter is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-278-8403.

This perky little kitty is a 5-month-old female silver tabby who has a great personality and gets along well with other cats. She'd make a great addition to a family looking for a second kitten. She can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal.

So cats are cheaper in Newton than in Rockdale? I'm actually surprised to see the Rockdale shelter offering kittens for adoption. I never once saw a cat or kitten on their channel 23 ads -- just dogs -- which led me to believe they euthanized cats rather than adopt them out.
