JULIE WELLS: God's story for our lives is perfect

Christian artist Heather Williams recently released a new song titled, "God Is Still God." I've read several interviews concerning her message in the lyrics of the song and I couldn't agree with her more. She says it all in some of her lyrics that go like this:

"He's been there, walking in the wilderness

When it's hard to see the end

But He had the strength to do it, so He can help you through it

So hang on now

So even when you lie awake

And bend until you almost break

The darkest time is right before the dawn."

Then the chorus circles back around and my favorite part of the song says:

"The only thing that matters

Is God is still God and He holds it together."

She is right. God is still God and He truly holds it all together. It's funny how, even as Christians, we have to remind ourselves that He is the one in control of it all in the first place.

We find ourselves hanging on to whatever we can because we think we have to be in the ones in control. Why is that? Why do we repeatedly have to learn that lesson over and over in our lives? I mean, think about it -- think about a time in your life when you thought you had control over a certain situation only to find out you didn't and you made a mess of it in the meantime.

So, when you stopped being stubborn and finally turned it over to the Lord, well, He worked it all out. The Bible says in Romans 8:28, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose."

This week I encourage you to take whatever it is you are struggling with or whatever situation you think you have to control and just go ahead and give it to the Lord. Take it from me and take it from your own previous hard-headed lessons, God is still God and He holds it together.

It is a faith lesson in your life. You have to trust Him with everything in your life, not just most of it. He knows what He is doing, He knows what is best for you and He wants the best for you.

I've even caught myself saying to the Lord "I'm glad you handled that, because I would have completely made a big mess out of it." His story for our lives is perfect.
