"I'm sending the Citizen an email this week because I was looking out my back door and I saw four cottontail rabbits running around chasing each other. I love to see the little bunnies playing in the grass. Catching all those nasty cats in my cat trap and delivering them to animal control has really paid off. Those rabbits are meant to feed hawks and owls not nasty house fed rodents. Some people understand this. For those of you that don't I want to lecture you again. Cats are wild, they will always be wild, they cannot be domesticated like dogs can. They should not be bred. Stop bringing them into the house, and letting them out in the evening to feed on the natural wildlife. Leave them in the wild, dummies. Look at it this way, they won't be -------- in a box and smelling up your house anymore. That's the lesson for this week."
"I saw y'all's story about the Clerk of Superior Court Mrs. Linda D. Hays. Only had one thought. She should be required to repay every dime for every year she has taken that money from us. If she really uses our county office space at the courthouse and our county employees to fill out those passports then it is clearly our money. Pay it all back now! If it takes a judge and a jury to make her pay it all back to us, then so be it. Some had said it may be as much as $80,000 per year. That would pay for two more county employees salary that had been laid off. I don't know how long she was in that office but 10 years would be $800,000 of our money in her pockets! Pay it back now!"
"The Old Man would like to discuss how we are becoming a bunch of slobs. Now, if you don't fit into this category, don't be offended. I used to make my Boy Scouts clean up our campsite before we left. The motto was 'Leave it cleaner then it was when we arrived.' I sure hope they carried that with them. In my travels I would stop at rest stops and they always had trash barrels every 10 feet, but people would get out of their cars, empty their ashtrays right outside their car door and then sweep all the trash they accumulated onto the parking lot. As I drive down the road I see trash all along the road even though much of this is about a half mile from the place that they could dump it legally. I realize that much of this comes off the back of pick-up trucks because it isn't tied down, but come on people, let's take a little more pride in these things. We are known as ugly Americans in many countries, but we are really American slobs here. This doesn't mean everyone, but you know who you are. Yesterday I was at Aldi's and stepped out of my car and stepped on a pile of trash from a fast food joint which was in the area. Aldi's has a trash barrel so why was the trash in the parking lot? We are a bunch of slobs. Next time I would like to talk a little about politics."
"This is the actual quote from Hilary Rosen concerning Ann Romney's qualifications to advise Mitt on financial issues of working mothers: 'His wife has actually never worked a day in her life, She's never really dealt with the kinds of economic issues that a majority of the women in this country are facing.' Amen to Rosen's statement. Ann Romney never had to go to work hoping the school would not call her to come pick up a sick child or worry about being told to work unexpected free overtime hours and subsequently incurring expensive surcharges from the day care center for arriving after the center's closing time. Or worse yet, being held up in traffic and being reported to DFACS for not being home when the bus delivering her special needs child arrived. These are just some of the real issues facing real 'working' mothers! I know it must have been tough on Ann Romney though when she had to chauffeur her five boys to their yachting and polo classes. But this probably only happened a few times since she could afford nannies, cooks, maids, and chauffeurs."
"I am so sick of the American give me, give me mindset. This concept of the liberals and their term entitlement is absurd. I worked 25-plus years and had the maximum amount deducted for Social Security and Medicare. I still have Medicare deducted from my Social Security check each month, so in reality, I am still paying. Nothing is free for me. I also pay another $190 each month for a supplemental policy since Medicare pays so little. I received in the mail today, an advertisement from Assurance Wireless. No wonder this country is going bankrupt. It stated if I was on Food Stamps, Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income, Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, Federal Public Housing Assistance, Senior Citizen Low Income Discount Plan or Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, I could qualify. This is such a wonderful offer, I am sure from our Socialist President Obama. The best part is it states it is a Lifetime Assistance Program, brought to us by Virgin Mobile. Last time I checked, Virgin is a company owned by a British citizen? Why should any of these people be entitled to a cell phone, when battered women get a cell phone free, but only to dial 911? I have to pay for everything I receive, so why are we giving a free cell phones to all of these people? Obama wants everyone indebted to him and depending on him. Wake up America! He is not God! Vote him out of office and believe that this is the only way the America we remember and love will ever be allowed to return to her once proud place. The choice is ours -- Vote 11/06/12 to make the transition begin. A different president is our only chance."
"The Newton County Board of Education (representative) Jeff Meadors is busy worrying about New York City and the School Chancellor just to make fun about black school officials. What are you doing about the graduation rate in Newton County -- under 60 percent and the drop out rate? Why is no one complaining about the billion dollars in revenue cuts to education that Republicans have passed? Why is Georgia ranked 50th or tied for last in SAT scores and no complaints? What about all the millions of dollars spent on Georgia college presidents? Just stick to the local issues. We have enough dirty laundry in Georgia to try and fix."
"I appreciate a father that looks out for his son. Thank you for filing the ethics complaint against two of the city councilmen of Covington."
"I was calling about Darrell Huckaby's column in the paper on the 18th. I agree with him wholeheartedly. The thing is, I feel like it should have been done a long time ago. I just quiver when I think a lot of my hard-earned, taxpayers money is going to contribute to somebody's situation. You should never have to be forced to contribute to anybody's habit, especially like that. To the people who are grunting and groaning about it, I think it just should be put to them, learn to live with it."
"Well, I just wanted to respond to the (person) who called in about the trucks parked on Salem Road. They just don't know what they go through. Maybe the poor truckers were tired after fighting traffic, I just don't know. I was the wife of a trucker and I am a mother of a trucker, and I don't like people talking about any trucker. You just don't know what they go through. You couldn't eat, buy groceries, get medicine, have a job or ride around if it wasn't for trucks. As the saying goes, Whenever trucks stop, America stops. Whenever you see a trucker, wave and have respect for them."

To the Ann Romney commenter: she's a breast cancer survivor and has multiple sclerosis, so maybe being Ann Romney isn't the bed of roses you imagine. Thankfully, the Obamas demonstrated they have far more sense and are far less hate- and envy-filled than you in the matter: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/12/obama-hilary-rosen-being-a-mom_n_1422036.html

What Hilary Rosen should have said was that Obama doesn't know anything about the financial issues facing ANYONE in the "real world" because he has never held a job outside of academia or government, and it has clearly shown these last three plus years. He was "community organizing" while Romney was gaining the business know-how to restore this country.

With regard to the information about the Lifeline program, you may want to double check your facts. The program was begun by the conservative republican presidential administration under Ronald Reagan. Also Virgin Mobile is owned by a US telecommunications carrier. There are 13 million people unemployed in the US due to layoffs. A phone provides a way to contact potential employers and for employers to contact potential candidates and at the same time saves people money that can now be used to buy food, pay for housing etc.... How do we expect people to dig themselves out of a hole if we don't lend them a shovel?
