CONYERS -- A Marietta man has been booked into the Rockdale County Jail for not getting a 4-month-old baby medical attention after allegedly dropping the child.
Rubin Rodriquez Holland -- who also goes by the name Jason McKinnon -- 33, of 2121 Windy Hill Road, Marietta, was charged with cruelty to children causing excessive physical or mental pain.
The incident occurred sometime near the end of March; however, Holland has been in the Cobb County Jail on unrelated charges and was transferred to the Rockdale County Jail on Monday, said Rockdale County Sheriff's Office Investigator Michael Camp.
According to the initial incident report, the mother noticed on March 29 that her 4-month-old son was not eating and seemed extremely fussy. The child's grandmother had taken the child to the pediatrician earlier that day, but when he did not seem to get any better throughout the night, the mother took the infant to Rockdale Medical Center.
The baby was then transferred to Egleston Children's Hospital in Atlanta, where a pediatrician determined he had a skull fracture and bruises on his face and back.
A social worker with the Department of Family and Children's Services was called to the hospital.
"(The social worker) stated that (the) doctor advised her that the injury to the child was not accidental," according to the incident report completed by RCSO Deputy Carrie Chappell.
The doctor did say that the infant "suffered no brain damage and should fully recover," the report stated.Several people had kept the baby during the few days before he was taken to the hospital, including Holland, who was the mother's boyfriend at the time. The two broke up as a result of the mother accusing Holland of injuring her child, according to the incident report.
Holland admitted that he accidentally dropped the baby, but that he did not intentionally harm the infant.
"It doesn't appear to be malicious, but Mr. Holland was charged because even if it were accidental, he did not get the child the proper medical attention," Camp said.

Let me get this straight: the child is 4 months old -- and the mother has already moved on from the father to the next boyfriend? And is dating someone 'who goes by' another name, in addition to his real name? And said boyfriend is the type of person to be arrested in Cobb County 'on unrelated charges'? And she's letting this person hold her son? What is WRONG with women today?? Why are you jumping from man to man, having children by multiple fathers, and letting strange men around your babies -- especially men who don't have jobs or have crime as their main career? What has happened to self-respect in this world? What are you doing with babies, no husband, hanging around with worthless men who haven't got their lives straightened out? You've got a baby; time to quit worrying about getting your groove on and start worrying about working to provide for that child and the child's future.

Low self-esteem is the reason women get involved with the crazy, good-for-nothing, thuggish men in the first place.
