After a computer glitch caused backups and delays Wednesday at Department of Driver Services offices throughout the state, Thursday was a much easier day, as is usual at the DDS location in Conyers where representatives say they normally see fewer customers on that day. Anthony Porter of Monroe was among those waiting Thursday and said his experience was a good one and the representative who waited on his was very helpful. Wednesday’s slowdown was unrelated to recent increased wait times at Drivers Services offices that have occurred as a result of new requirements for renewing driver’s licenses. The Secure ID program requires drivers to renew their licenses in person and to bring a number of documents proving their identity, including a birth certificate or passport; two documents showing proof of where they live; and proof of a Social Security number.

He had brought in all the necessary requirements for renewal and said that it went “very quick, very helpful, about 5-10 minutes” from the time he came in.
