Mary Ethel Vickers Waddell went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 11, 2012. She was born on October 3, 1924 in Flovilla, GA to the late Troy and Bertha Vickers. Mrs. Waddell grew up in Crawfordville, GA where she graduated from A. H. Stephens High School. After graduation, she moved to Atlanta where she met and married her late husband, Charles H. Waddell. Mrs. Waddell was a resident of Decatur and Avondale Estates for many years recently moving to Covington. She was a member of First Baptist Church Avondale Estates where she was a Sunday morning greeter. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Waddell was preceded in death by son, Jerry Waddell of Conyers; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Charles Aultman of Macon; brother, Howard Vickers of Flagler Beach, FL; nephew, Tommy Aultman of Macon; step-mother, Theodocia Vickers of Crawfordville, GA. She is survived by her grandchildren, Jeff and Elvira Waddell of Covington, Melissa and Alan Bridges of Lexington, GA; daughter-in-law, Becky Waddell of Conyers; great-grandchildren, Audrey Waddell, Isabella Waddell, Jorge Sanchez; nieces, Bonnie Barnwell of Forsyth, and Kathy Vass of Greenville, SC; sister-in-law, Betty Vickers of Flagler Beach, FL; several cousins, great-nieces and nephews. A celebration of life serve will be held Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Scot Ward’s Green Meadow Chapel with Rev. Mark Green officiating; interment will follow at Jackson City Cemetery, Jackson, GA. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1925 Century Bld.
