Mr. Warren Candler (WC) Almand, Jr., age 90 of Covington passed away Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Newton Medical Center. Mr. Almand was born in Henry County to the late Warren C. Almand, Sr. and Mamie Lucille Smith. After graduating high school in 1939 he proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII in Greece and in Italy. Mr. Almand was retired from Wilson & Company after 26 years as a Meat Salesman. After his retirement he and his family had their own janitorial services company with two main clients, The Georgia National Guard Headquarters and Georgia Tent and Awning Company. Mr. Almand was a member of Zion Baptist Church for 22 years where he was a member of the Emmanuel Sunday School Class and a church deacon. He and his wife loved camping with friends especially at Moccasin Creek. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Almand is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Mamie Ruth Almand of Covington; son Warren C. Almand, III.; sons and daughters in law Wayne and Mary Lou Almand of Peachtree City and Joe and Patricia Almand of Covington; daughter Dana Weeks of Jasper, GA; grandchildren Jennifer Almand, Katie Almand, Matthew Almand, Kayla Payne and Christian Payne; nieces Charlene Cape and Jan Brown. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Reese Sanders officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
