Rockdale woman charged in illegal dentist practice

CONYERS -- A Rockdale County woman has been arrested and charged with practicing dentistry without a license.

According to the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office, Kessia Shauna Curtis, 34, of 2110 Fairway Court, Unit B, was arrested and charged on Aug. 22, after a complaint came in concerning several illegally parked vehicles and the allegation that an illegal dentist office was operating from that address.

In her incident report, a RCSO deputy said she went to Curtis' home and knocked on the door and Curtis answered the door wearing a surgical mask.

The deputy asked Curtis about the allegations and she said "she was just clipping someone's braces wire, that she was an orthodontic assistant and what she was doing was not illegal," the incident report states.

Though not invited inside, the deputy stated she observed "some type of machine that was plugged up on the left side of the residence and it was covered up with some type of cloth. There was also a table on the right side of the residence as well with different types of items on it."

Curtis told the deputy the reason there were so many vehicles at the location was because four adults lived there. When asked what orthodontist she worked for, the woman hesitated before giving the name and telephone number of an Atlanta orthodontist. She said she didn't know the address, only that it was in Atlanta.

The deputy contacted a RCSO detective who obtained a search warrant for the location. Cleaning equipment and other dental equipment and supplies were located and the charges were made.

Why can't Conyers/Rockdale start their own reality show???? This stuff is crazy, mind-blowing and unscripted! We've got criminals with horrible driving skills, criminals who text the police that they have drugs for sale, and now, criminals who even want to be future dentists!!! I say lets make money off of their stupidity!!! We wouldn't even need to hire writers...these dumb-dumbs are giving us plenty material to use.

I think I'll start a brain surgery clinic on my back porch...frontal lobotomies, 25-cents a pop.

Facetious, but fits right in with what has been transpiring in the Rockdale Reality Show lately.

The police are doing an excellent job in contains the kooks, and I would imagine each one of them could write a best-seller based on these antics, or at least a couple of episodes of "Cops".

When advertising for new police and deputies, they could use the slogan, "Never a dull moment in Rockdale!".

I think this "home-made" dentistry might be a forerunner in "dental telecommuting".
