Conyers Police Department Major Scott Freeman was honored for 22 years of service with the city at the City Council meeting Wednesday night. Freeman has been selected by Rockdale County Sheriff-elect Eric Levett to serve as his chief deputy when his term begins Jan. 1. Wednesday was Freeman's last day on the police force. According to Police Chief Gene Wilson, Freeman's last assignment with the department was as commander of the Bureau of Administration and he was instrumental in the department receiving state accreditation and achieving accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. "We're going to miss him a great deal," said Wilson. "I think the sheriff-elect made a very good decision for his second in command." Really? For a man who has given so much and been so devoted to the city the citizen couldn't do more than a two line report?

Because nobody really cares. Feel free to do your own report in the Citizen Poll.
