The Conyers-based Greystone Obstetrics and Gynecology expanded its practice and now has a satellite office in Covington at 4142 Mill Street near the Newton Medical Center.
"We at Greystone Ob/GYN are excited with the opening of an office next to Newton Medical Center. We have done surgery and delivered babies there for a long time, but without a physical location in that community directly. Being less than 10 miles away at our original location gave us a nearby, but limited, presence," said Dr. Richard Robinson, founder of Greystone.
"Thankfully, our practice has really grown and thrived, even in these challenging medical times, and now we are able to open this second office to better reach out to Newton County patients. We've got a lot of folks driving also from the Lake Oconee area, Monroe, Madison and Social Circle that will find it a little closer to get to us."
The practice offers obstetrics, gynecology, midwifery, minimally invasive surgery, and three-dimensional and four-dimensional ultrasound for patients in their teens and up.
Greystone staff includes board certified physicians Dr. Richard Robinson, Dr. Timothy Cowthorn and Dr. Benetta Duhart, and certified nurse-midwives Melissa Aycox, Stephanie Pittman and Alecia Cash.
"I live here in the Oxford area and all three of our midwives grew up in this area and are raising their families here now," said Robinson.
"Stephanie Pittman and Alecia Cash are outstanding midwives that got their start as labor and delivery nurses right here at this hospital. Some of their patients from previous pregnancies when they were nurses now see them with next pregnancies as their midwife. It's very fun to see that dynamic evolve."
Greystone, formerly known as Robinson OB/Gyn, opened in Conyers at 3240 Avalon Boulevard in 1996.
In addition to running his practice, Robinson serves on the board of the Kim Chance Atkins Foundation for breast cancer and was a founding board member for Project Renewal, a nonprofit which aids battered women and their children. He has also served as the department chairman of OB/GYN at Rockdale Medical Center and was on the RMC Foundation Board.
The Greystone practice provides conventional gynecologic surgical procedures and treatments for disorders ranging from endometriosis and ovarian cysts to persistent bleeding and uterine fibroids, and also offers minimally invasive laparoscopic hysterectomy and robotic surgery.
Obstetrical services include pregnancy testing, three-dimensional and four-dimensional ultrasounds, infertility workups, normal and high risk pregnancy care and recurrent pregnancy loss evaluation. Midwives also offer breastfeeding instruction, contraception options and full pregnancy care and delivery.
"All of our doctors and midwives are thrilled to be a part of this excellent medical community and look forward to seeing established and new patients at our Covington office," said Robinson.
