CONYERS — Heritage High School administrators asked the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office to look into allegations that the school’s resource officer may have had an inappropriate relationship with a student.
According to a statement released by the Sheriff’s Office Thursday, RCSO Deputy Thomas Donahue was placed on paid administrative leave as an internal investigation begins. The statement added that Rockdale County Sheriff Jeff Wigington has contacted the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to look into any potential criminal charges.
The Sheriff’s Office was tight-lipped on details. RCSO Investigator Michael Camp declined to give an age or sex of the student citing the nature of the ongoing investigation.
“Right now, it’s very early on all allegations,” Camp said. “We will not have any information available at this time.”
According to the RCSO statement and portion of the initial incident report released Thursday, Heritage Principal Greg Fowler contacted the Sheriff’s Office Monday regarding the possibility of an inappropriate relationship between Donahue and a student.
Donahue is in his second year assigned to the school and has been employed with the RCSO for about five years, according to the statement.

This should be very entertaining.

My son, a student at HHS, says this officer hasn't been at HHS for several months. I wonder why this investigation is so late in coming?

He has been there all year. He was at the games this weekend. Your son, is very much misinformed.

Don't be too quick to judge... some students can casually make career ending remarks... Some students may be touched on the shoulder and claim to have been HIT in the shoulder. Let's do hope that the Deputy is not guilty of this.
