Driver pulled from fiery crash after 100-mph chase

ATLANTA (AP) -- Police say they pulled a person from a fiery crash after they say the driver led officers on a high-speed chase that reached speeds of 100 mph.

Police say the 14-mile chase began in Douglas County and ended in south Fulton County early Monday.

Authorities say Douglas County deputies tried to stop the driver around 1 a.m. after they spotted a car going the wrong way on Georgia 166 near Chapel Hill Road.

Police say the chase ended when the fleeing car crashed, flipped several times and caught fire near Old National Highway and Burdett Road.

The driver, whose name has not been released, was pulled from the wreckage and taken to a local hospital. The driver's condition was not immediately available.
