Home destroyed by fire

CONYERS -- A single-family home on Kingston Lane was destroyed by fire Tuesday evening, according to Rockdale County Fire and Rescue.

Public Information Officer Sharon Webb reported that a neighbor noticed smoke coming from the home at about 5:30 p.m. and called 911. No one was at home at the time of the fire.

Webb said that five engines and one rescue truck responded to the scene, along with a battalion chief, fire investigator and an EMS unit. No one was injured in the blaze.

Webb said the house was a total loss and the cause remains under investigation.

The family was able to make other arrangements and Red Cross was not called in to assist, Webb said.
