COVINGTON — The Georgia Department of Veterans Services has announced that Covington resident and Gulf War veteran Janice Mohr is the new manager of the State Veteran Field Service Office in Conyers. Mohr replaces longtime manager Tommy Clack who recently retired.
The former Army communications sergeant took over the VA and state veterans and their dependents benefit advisory responsibility for the area, including those who reside in Newton and Rockdale counties.
A South Georgia native, Mohr began working for the Georgia Department of Veterans Services and Appeals Officer at the GDVS Claims Division in Decatur. Not long after, she was appointed as Assistant State Service Officer for the American Legion, Department of Georgia.
Mohr, who has an associate’s degree in finance and is certified in medical transcription and medical billing, presently attends Phoenix University. She will earn her bachelor of arts degree in psychology at the end of this year.
She is married to Rick Mohr and is the mother of two daughters and the grandmother of two grandsons.
The Conyers Veterans Services office serves the east Atlanta region, including portions of DeKalb, Rockdale, Newton, Morgan, Walton, Barrow and Henry counties. It is located at 983 Taylor St., in the J.P. Carr Administration Building, off West Avenue. The phone number is 770-388-5075.
