Cotton has put on her most bewitching smile in the hopes of attracting a new family. She's believed to be about 2 years old and looks to have a little Poodle and some Cocker Spaniel in her ancestry. Weighing only 10 pounds, she was found wandering and certainly deserves a new life. She'd make an excellent family pet. She can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. For "Li'l Rascal" fans this gal looks vaguely familiar. Maybe the famous Pete who hung with Spanky and the gang is a distant relative. Named Skittles for the time being, she's only 4 months old and is believed to be a bull dog/Lab-mix. She is expected to weigh about 60 pounds as an adult. Skittles was found as a stray and her time at the shelter is getting short. She needs a home in the worst kind of way. She's up-to-date on shots and may not make a movie star, but she's sure to win the hearts of any family who will accept her. She can be rescued and adopted at Rockdale County Animal Care and Control Shelter at 1506 Rockbridge Road in Conyers. At the Rockdale shelter adoption fees for dogs are $30 and $20 for cats. Spaying or neutering is required for adoption. The shelter is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-278-8403.
