As a Snapping Shoals EMC member for the last 18 years and a board member for the last three, I'm pleased to say our co-op's rates are among the lowest in the state, even lower than Georgia Power. Our power supply is dependable now and into the future and our co-op's conservation efforts are a model for other co-operatives.
You may have already received misleading and deceptive mailings or robotic phone calls from radical environmental groups attacking your co-operative. They will tell you they want to save you money; however, their true concern is furthering a very extreme anti-coal agenda with little or no concern for the price of your electricity or whether it will be there when you need it. I am concerned about the environment; but, I am also concerned about our fellow co-op members who are already struggling to pay their power bills in this difficult economy.
The annual meeting of Snapping Shoals EMC will be held on Thursday, July 26, at the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers; voting will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 11:15 a.m. It's not too late to save our co-op if we show up and vote for Anthony Norton, Walter Johnson and myself. Let's stand up for our co-op and keep power bills down.
