CONYERS -- It's still July, but the start of the school year is just around the corner, and Rockdale County Public Schools will hold school Open Houses next week.

Open Houses are scheduled at various times from Tuesday through Thursday.

Each elementary school will hold an Open House from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. In addition, Pine Street Elementary School's Open House will begin at 4 p.m., continuing until 7 p.m., while Shoal Creek Elementary will hold an additional Open House from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. that day and Sims Elementary will hold one from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. that day.

All RCPS middle schools will hold Open Houses from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, and all high schools will hold Open Houses from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Additionally, the Rockdale Career Academy, Open Campus and the Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology each will hold an Open House from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Each of the three high schools also will hold a ninth-grade open house for students from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. It is also open to new high school students to the system, no matter their grade.

"We encourage all parents and students to attend Open House next week in preparation for the new school year," said Cindy Ball, director of Community Relations for RCPS. "Open House is a great opportunity to meet teachers and administrators, as well as become familiar with the school building and classrooms. Open House is also when parents receive important information to ensure their child begins the school year ready to learn."
