CONYERS -- The early registration deadline for the annual Kim Atkins Memorial Tennis Tournament is fast approaching, and organizers are urging competitors to sign up.
Those who register by July 31 will receive a discount -- $80 per team. After July 31 and until the deadline on Aug. 10, registration for each team will cost $90. Registration can be done online at www.kimatkins.net. Registration includes men's doubles, women's doubles, family doubles and senior mixed doubles.
The fund-raiser tournament begins at the Rockdale Tennis Center on Aug. 25 and continues through Aug. 26. But before supporters hit the courts, they'll be invited to "The Breast Party in Town" on Aug. 17.
This much-anticipated party is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Club 908 in Olde Town Conyers. Tennis players, sponsors and friends will be invited to enjoy a night of food, entertainment, raffles and a silent auction. Registration for the tournament includes admission to the party. The cost for non-registrants, 21 years of age and older, is $20 per person.
Supporters can also take part in the fund-raiser by purchasing a numbered tennis ball for $10 each at the tournament website, www.kimatkins.net. Two hundred fifty of the balls will be dropped from a bucket truck at 1 p.m. on Aug. 25. The ball that comes closest to the target will win its purchaser $1,000.
The Kim Atkins Memorial Tennis Tournament benefits the Kimberley Chance Atkins Foundation, which is dedicated to promoting early breast cancer detection and education about prevention, treatment options, and recovery.
