CONYERS -- Rewards of $1,000 are being offered by the Conyers Police Department for information leading to the arrests of suspects in two incidents that occurred in Conyers in the past two weeks.
According to information provided by the CPD, cash rewards of $1,000 each are offered in the May 27 purse snatching in the TJ Maxx shopping center and the armed robbery at Plaza Cleaners on Ga. Highway 138 on June 2.
In the most recent incident, two black males reportedly came in the back door of Plaza Cleaners at 1815 Ga. Highway 138 at about 2:20 p.m. Saturday and demanded cash from the husband and wife who own and operate the business.
According to the incident report, the two suspects, both armed with handguns, first demanded the money from the cash register. When the wife handed over the cash, the suspects demanded more money, and the husband opened his wallet and they took the money inside.
On the way out the suspects reportedly asked to use the restroom, but the wife, who was very shaken, asked that they leave them alone. The suspects left through the back door, closing it behind them.
Both suspects are believed to be in their late 20s or early 30s. One was described as having a slender build, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, and light-skinned, possibly biracial -- Hispanic and black. He had short hair and was wearing a black hat and a black sleeveless shirt. The second suspect was described as having an average build, 5 feet, 5 inches tall, and dark-skinned. He also had short hair and was wearing a green shirt. Both suspects wore sports-styled sunglasses.
In the purse-snatching incident, police are looking for a black male who was wearing blue jeans and a gray hoodie with a small amount of red on it. The suspect reportedly grabbed a woman's purse from her shopping cart and ran into the Hunting Creek subdivision nearby.
Anyone with information on either of these incidents is asked to call the CPD Crime Hotline at 770-483-TIPS or 770-483-9477.
