Mrs. Cleo G. Surles, age 91 of Covington, died Thursday, March 8, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Surles, Sr.; parents, Roy and Elsie Hobbs; 1 brother; 5 sisters. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Sandra Surles, Covington; grandchildren, Melissa and Carl Tawzer, Tifton, Tommy and Crystal Surles, Covington, Leanna and Shane Johnson, Covington; great-grandchildren, Carlie Tawzer, Rylie Surles, Emma and Caleb Johnson. Mrs. Surles was a retired teacher with DeKalb County Public Schools with 18 years of service. She was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and received her Master’s Degree from the University of Georgia. She was a member of Oakhill Church of Christ. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Scot Ward’s Green Meadow Chapel with Minister Jeff Johnson officiating; interment will follow at Hillandale Memorial Park, Lithonia. Family will receive friends Friday, March 9, 2012 from 4 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Raintree Village, Inc., 3757 Johnston Road, Valdosta, GA 31601.
