Pets available for adoption this week in Newton, Rockdale counties

Max is all smiles as he contemplates being adopted and settling down in a new home. A black and white Aussie-mix, he's a young adult and weighs approximately 35 pounds. He can be rescued and adopted at Rockdale County Animal Care and Control Shelter at 1506 Rockbridge Road in Conyers. At the Rockdale shelter adoption fees for dogs are $30 and $20 for cats. Spaying or neutering is required for adoption. The shelter is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-278-8403.

Foxy looks as though she's alert to the slightest sound or movement and is especially on high alert for someone to take her home. She's approximately a year old and is probably at her adult weight of 35 to 40 pounds. She has lovely brown, black and white markings and would make a wonderful addition to any family. She can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal.
