Market open for business

The Rockdale County Farmers Market on Parker Road was open for business Tuesday, and co-founder Roger Hatch was sprucing up the sign to help get the word out. The market, which opened for the season on Saturday, will be open each Tuesday and Saturday morning, 8 a.m. until sold out, now through October. Rockdale County growers can participate in the market through the county's Cooperative Extension Office without a fee. Those outside the county can sell their produce, too, for a fee of $5 per week or $20 for the entire season. To register as a vendor, visit the Rockdale County Cooperative Extension Office at 1400 Parker Road, Lobby A, or call 770-278-7373. The market is sponsored annually by the Georgia Farm Bureau and the Rockdale Extension Service. -- Staff Photo: Sue Ann Kuhn-Smith
