Kartrinna N. Powell
Army Pfc. Kartrinna N. Powell has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.
Powell is the daughter of Phyllis Mitchell of Hephzibah, Ga. and Willie Powell of Conyers. She is a 2001 graduate of Butler High School in Augusta.
Courtney R. Shaw
Army Pvt. Courtney R. Shaw has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.
Shaw is the daughter of Wendy Shaw of Covington.
Joshua J. Munger
Army Pvt. Joshua J. Munger has graduated from One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo., which included basic military training and advanced individual training (AIT). During basic military training, the trainee received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons qualification, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army doctrine, history, principles and traditions.
During AIT, the soldier completed the military police specialist course to acquire skills to provide combat area support, conduct battlefield circulation control, area security, prisoner of war operations, civilian internee operations, and law and order operations.
The trainee performed as a team member in support of battlefield operations, installation law and order operations and security of Army resources and installations. Additional training included providing peacetime support to the military community through security of resources, crime prevention programs, and preservation of law and order.
Munger is the son of Kenneth and Ivy Munger of Conyers. He is a 2009 graduate of Heritage High School.
Corey R. Jenkins
Army National Guard Pvt. Corey R. Jenkins has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.
Jenkins is the son of Raymonde Turenne of Covington. He is a 2010 graduate of Newton High School.
Alisha R. Sullivan
Air Force Reserve Airman Alisha R. Sullivan graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Sullivan is the daughter of Christopher Vonsee of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., and Christie Vonsee of Covington. She is a 2009 graduate of Marysville Joint Unified High School in California.
