Mr. James Thompson, age 80 of Newborn, died October 7, 2012. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 44 years, Martha E. Thompson; daughter, Deborah Upchurch; parents, James & Gussie Thompson Sr.; sister, Janice Ann Sellers. He is survived by daughter & son-in-law, Patti Denise & Jack Bowen, Atlanta; son & daughter-in-law, Tim & Gail Thompson, Loganville; daughter, Mary Thompson, Alpharetta; daughter & son-in-law, Susan & Mike Few, Newborn; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces & nephews. Jimmy was in the U.S. Marine Corps serving his country during the Korean War and was a member of First Baptist Church of Conyers. He loved camping with the Good Sam Club (Chapter 21), enjoyed working on motor homes and watches, and was an avid fan of the Braves, college football, NASCAR and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Scot Ward’s Green Meadow Chapel with Dr. Jeff Meyers and Rev. Howard Greer officiating; interment will follow at Eastview Cemetery.
