Mrs. Mary Rachel Pope, age 91 of Covington, died Friday, September 14, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Pope; son, Raymond Pope; parents, Colie and Kinie Howard; and brother, Howell Howard. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Marion David and Jan Pope, Lithonia; daughter and son-in-law, Betty Jean and Weyman Smith, Covington; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law, Paul and Wilma Howard, James Howard; and sister-in-law, May Alice Howard. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 17, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. at Scot Ward’s Green Meadow Chapel; interment will follow at Turner Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Lithonia. Family will receive friends Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be submitted on-line at www.scotward.com.
