Local elected officials, dignitaries and volunteers are shown here at the ribbon-cutting ceremony held Wednesday at the new location of the Community Clothes Closet. After closing at its former location on Oakland Avenue in June, the charitable organization will reopen to customers on Oct. 15. According to Dr. Tracy Lewis with Growing Discovery Outreach Ministry, a partner in operating the Clothes Closet, kids' clothes and shoes in all sizes are needed now. In addition, as winter approaches, winter coats in all sizes are needed. The drop point for donations of clothing and furniture for the Clothes Closet is Rockdale Emergency Relief at 350 Tall Oaks in Conyers. The phone number is 404-662-7477. Hey Ruth Wilson are you going to donate some of that passport money to the Clothes Closet? Seems only right since you made sure you were front and center in the photo.

While I'm very thankful to see the Clothes Closet back in business, I find it very sad that Ms. Judy Smith and all of her wonderful volunteers who made the clothes closet what it is today and who kept it up and running all of these years are not shown in the picture nor are they a part of the new Clothes Closet. Very sad indeed. This whole matter could have been handled differently and should have been handled differently and all of those people would still be there today. Thank you, Ms. Judy Smith for your loyal dedication to all of those you have served in Rockdale County. You have helped so many families. You will be missed.
