RCSO seeks information in drive-by shootings

From Staff Reports

CONYERS --The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in obtaining information on several drive-by style shootings that have occurred in the county.

Since early September, four houses, two vehicles and a tractor have been shot in what is believed to be at least seven random drive-by style shootings in south Rockdale County. According to the Sheriff's Office, the shootings have all taken place within a couple miles of each other, and there does not appear to be any link between the victims.

In the first incident, two houses were shot on the same night in early September -- one on Oglesby Bridge Road and one on Crowell Road.

In the second incident, a house on Plantation Boulevard was shot one night in mid-November. And in early January a tractor parked on the side of Oglesby Bridge Road was shot. The most recent shootings involved two vehicles and a house that were shot on the same evening on Cowan Road earlier this month.

"This is a very serious matter and we want to have the person or people responsible arrested before someone gets hurt," said Sheriff Eric Levett. "We've been fortunate that no one has been shot so far, but a couple of the bullets went into areas of the houses where someone could have easily been hit."

Investigator Michael Camp said a similar caliber weapon was used in all of the shootings, which is how officers linked the incidents.

"None of the victims seem to be involved in anything that would make them targets," said Camp. "All of the (shots) have been fired from the road, so we believe (the suspects) to be in a vehicle."

Those involved in the shootings could face charges ranging from reckless conduct to criminal trespass to aggravated assault, said Camp, since two of the houses were occupied when the shots were fired.

One lead that investigators have received is that a dark-colored Jeep Wrangler was seen in the area of the November shooting, but the Sheriff's Office said investigators don't want to focus on just that vehicle since it was only seen in the area of one of the shootings.

Anyone with information about these shootings is asked to contact Lt. Matt Wolfe at 770-278-8152. If someone wants to submit an anonymous tip, they can contact Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or at www.crimestoppersatlanta.org. A cash reward may be available for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect or suspects involved.

Thank God that no one has been hit by the bullets. I know some of these people that have had shots fired at their homes and vehicles, there are very small children in these homes and their parents.

I think that the only type person that would commit these acts would be a COWARD, Lacking control of their emotions, with a small ManHood complex.

When they are caught and they will be, they will jailed with criminals that don't have respect for this type of behavior. Therein they will experience the Pain, Fear, Helplessness and Random acts of Violence that they will deserve (karma). After waiting for the Courts to send them to a torturous confinement for a substantial amount of time we can only hope that their real life Orientation is well defined before they are released back into the society that they came from.

After all this, I sincerely hope, that the experiences pilfered upon them while incarcerated will be shared with many of the others that might choose to go down this path.

Sheriff, Deputies, Officers Prosecutors and Judges, please allow them to receive their JUST DESERVES.
