CONYERS -- The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office has tentatively identified the body of a man found burning in woods Sunday night and has determined that no foul play was involved in his death.
According to Investigator Michael Camp, an autopsy performed Monday, information obtained during the investigation and evidence at the scene showed that the fire and the victim's death were either accidental or self-inflicted. An exact cause of death was not released. Camp said the tentative identity of the victim may not be confirmed for several weeks.
"I want to commend our deputies and investigators for their hard work on this case," said Sheriff Eric Levett. "I want to reassure everyone that this is not a murder and there was never a danger to the public."
Two hunters reported a fire in a wooded area off Ga. Highway 212 near Susong Road shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday. When deputies arrived they discovered a body burning in a small brush fire.
Anyone with further information about this case is encouraged to call the RCSO at 770-278-8000.

um Elmo-did you copy and paste this "quote" because the article I'm reading clearly states "accidental or self inflicted". Which is quite different than what you have stated in quotations.

It actually was a direct copy-paste, except for the word "Huh?".
The citizen has corrected the story since the intitial version.
Perhaps you need to learntoread the rest of the posts that indicate the same thing.
So, are you now going to change your handle from "learntoread" to "learntocutandpaste"?

Seems simple Elmo, he burned himself on purpose or by accident. Not to hard to understand.

What part of this is giving you Crime Scene Investigators problems? The fire and resulting death was either an accident (he didn't mean to light himself on fire) or intentional (he comitted suicide by fire). Since they determined no foul play that rules out murder unless other evidence turns up. The Sheriff's Office worked quickly and kept the public informed and you still have to complain?

As far a CSI goes, could they tell us if the gas can on the scene had only the deceased fingerprints on it?

This report leaves you to wonder if the disconnect happened at the Authority or the News Reporter level. Either way, One cannot see the fire for all the smoke.

Oh Camp, you are such an eloquent spokesperson for the minimum security jail. The term "tentative identity" is a euphemism for unidentified. Just say that you don't know yet. Either this mishap was the result of an accident or it was deliberate. What was the third choice again? Are you trying to smarten people up by dumbing things down? Elmo, thank you for not calling me out on this one.

"tentative identitiy" means they think they know who it is but trying to confirm it. He can only say what he is told. Wonder how Levett got his information that "this is not a murder" and how he was so sure?
