CONYERS -- Rockdale County Public Schools hopes to increase the value and potential for an unused piece of property owned by the system.
The Board of Education recently approved an easement request by Snapping Shoals Electric Membership Corporation for property located on Union Church Road and Flat Bridge Road. The land currently is undeveloped.
Snapping Shoals wants to relocate its power lines and equipment from running through the property to a path following the Union Church Road right of way.
"Relocating the power lines from crossing across the property increases the value and use of the property," said RCPS Superintendent Richard Autry.
During the process, Snapping Shoals also might have to clear trees and shrubs surrounding the lines and equipment on the 25 acres of land, according to RCPS.
The contract is valued at $1.
